Pod Lab
The most recent and updated conceptual theme in my design still falls with the mangrove forest, however the design and architectural outcome has altered some. The whole design of the laboratory as it is for future thinking and part of this is the ability for change and flexibility in the architecture the design has taken the form of movable pods. These pods are in four types, laboratory, office, sterilisation/storage and theatre. On each level of the building there will be fixed pods where certain amenities such as toilets and some labs, this is so the overall architecture can be visualised while not completely filled in. These pods are designed on a grid, 6000 x 12000 and is based on two factors, the ideal dimensions for a laboratory being 6000x 6000 with equal adjacent office, storage space. The second factor in the pod size is the main existing Hunter Street building ratio, which gives the architecture a direct relationship with its surrounding context and fine grain.
