Newcastle City Council Chambers and Library
Idea
The idea for this project is to take the idea of permaculture and place it into a scenario that examines its ability to be used in a high-density urban context. This project is one for the community and requires impute from many areas of society. To allow this to occur a building type that actively engages with a large population is needed. There are two buildings or organizations that actively participate in these values, they are Council Chambers and Libraries.
The project will consist of a new Newcastle City Council headquarters combined with a new Library. These new pieces of architecture will allow the idea of testing high-density urban permaculture. The architecture will submerse its self in practices that hold true to the art of permaculture and sustainability and use new and innovative building techniques, materials and user management.
